About Happy Trails PNW
Welcome! Alisa and Jessica here—the founders of Happy Trails PNW—a small, family owned business based in Seattle, WA.
As avid hikers/backpackers ourselves, we understand that every ounce counts on trail. That is why we are dedicated to providing lightweight, quality outdoor gear for your pup that is specifically designed for backpacking, so you and your pup can hit the trail together longer and farther. Our gear is designed in the US and trail-tested on multiple adventures in the Pacific Northwest—a region known for its beautiful coastline, lush, green forests, spectacular mountains—and rainy weather.
Sustainability and reducing waste are important key values for us to protect the outdoors that we all love so much. It is a long way, but we work hard to minimize our impact on the environment, using eco-friendly materials where feasible. Prioritizing responsibility in all of our actions are some of the steps we take to make more sustainable choices.
Instead of purchasing new gear every time it rips or tears, we are firm believers of extending a gear’s lifespan by repairing (or repurposing) what is broken and therefore, reducing waste in our landfills.

Our Story
As two sisters from Southwest Germany, we were “dragged” out on hikes every single weekend (or so it felt) by our parents. We also spent a significant amount of time in the Alps in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland; hiking in summer and skiing in winter.
Jessica took a little detour via China where she has lived for a couple of years, before she and her husband moved to the US; and, what better place could they have chosen than the Pacific Northwest (PNW) (it’s true, it does rain a fair amount of time!)
Alisa lives near Fankfurt in Germany, close to beautiful trails, lush forests, and many other great places within Europe. Currently, her partner and her love spending time hiking and traveling through Norway or France. Until recently, they shared their life with a dog of their own, a dearly loved and deeply missed (yet crazy) rescue Frenchie. Now, they happily embrace their roles as dog auntie and uncle, often enjoying adventures with their friends’ furry companions arround.
As you can see, we both love nature and are avid hikers, campers, and backpackers. On the numerous backpacking trips Jessica took with my dogs, she found it inconvenient and uncomfortable to carry their heavy, bulky gear, when at the same time, she was trying to keep the weight of her own gear low, counting every single ounce (or, to be real, almost every single ounce.)
That’s when the idea was born to create ultra-lightweight outdoor products for dogs, specifically designed for taking them backpacking with you, so you and your pup can hit the trail together longer and farther and make it a comfortable and convenient experience for the both of you.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I am Jessica and I am from Germany; but, I am currently living with my husband and our 2 dogs in Seattle, WA in the United States. When I am not working in my role at a big tech company, you can always find me out in nature, enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest backpacking, hiking, on the water, in the snow; really just anything outdoors.

Hi! Welcome and thanks for checking out our small family business. I am Alisa and live with my partner near Frankfurt, Germany. Dogs and the outdoors have always been a huge part of my life and I love to spend as much time in nature as my job as a counselor allows. You can either find me hiking through the expansive forests in Germany or exploring the beautiful and diverse Europe by camper van, tent-camping, or cozying up in a cabin in the mountains or by the sea.
Milo & Benji
Woof! We are Milo and Benji and we have great experience in looking for trouble, playing, and sleeping. I (Milo) am a rescued/adopted Pitbull, Australian Cattle Dog mix and my younger brother Benji is an Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix. We are both still young, so you see where all that energy is coming from. When we are not working as security dogs (gotta keep that neighborhood safe from squirrels) we love to go backpacking, hiking, and swimming with our favorite humans.
